Gerald Weber Recommends The BIG ALBUM
Feb 1, 2009
From the Kendrick Newsletter, Jan. 09

"I wanted to let everyone know about the killer CD recently released by Big Al Bettis from Houston, Texas. The name of it is The BIG ALbum. Pretty cool, eh? This CD is hard driving Texas Boogie Happy Blues. Goes good with ZZ Top, Jimmie Vaughan, Steve Vaughan, and Johnny Winter. You can find out more about it at Big Al Bettis's website. I encourage you to visit his website HERE. And you can even play free samples HERE. I recently got the chance jam with Big Al and he blew my mind. Check him out. You will not be dissappointed. Although he plays a Kendrick BadAssMan live now, this record was made using mostly a Kendrick K Spot (actually his is an older one without the K on the front so we called it a Gig Rig at the time he purchased it)."

- Gerald Weber, El Presidente, Kendrick Amplifiers

note to blog: Gerald has made amplifiers for Jimmie Vaughan, Joe Bonamassa and John Fogerty, and is a regular columnist for major guitar publications, so I really appreciate the kind words - thanks man! Al

The Big ALbum Release
Oct 10, 2007

The BIG Album showcases Al’s musical styles, ranging from flat out steamrollin’ Country to R&B, Blues and Rock with a bit of New Orleans Second Line thrown in, all featuring some smoking guitar work, slide, heavy rhythms, harmony vocals and interplay between the solo instruments.

Musicians include Travis “Too Tall” Bettis and Pete Sternberg from Lee Brice’s Band, Texas songstress Carolyn Wonderland and Houston Stratomaster the Very Teri Greene.

The set includes five Big Al originals and favorite songs collected over the years of performance, including a new tune “Gone Aluminum,” written by Nashville hitmakers Earl Bud Lee, Bobby Carmichael and newcomer Dusty Weeks, one by Too Tall and Big Al “Fingerprint Blues” with a guitar duet, and previously unpublished classic, “Four Time Loser” by Austin’s Ernie Gammage, and unique instrumental versions of “Night Train” and “Last Date.”
